Guenther Steiner‘s new book named ‘Surviving to Drive,’ features an explanation from Steiner’s point of view of what happened on track at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. The Haas F1 boss explains how all of it was so confusing and difficult to digest. He talks about sitting on the pit wall and wondering if the race directors were actually being serious with the orders. Steiner mentions that he could not contemplate the decision himself. However, he didn’t have all the facts that the race directors had either. Regardless of the chaos, he called the spectacle an entertaining one and suggested that poor Toto Wolff almost had a heart attack.

According to Mirror.co.uk, Guenther Steiner’s book read “What do I think, then? Well, it was certainly very confusing. I remember sitting on the pit wall listening to the orders from the race director and thinking, ‘What the hell is happening here?”. Further adding, “At the time it didn’t stack up to me, but at the same time, I didn’t know all the facts. It was very entertaining, though. Poor Toto [Wolff, Mercedes team principal] almost had a f***ing heart attack!”
