Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are putting on a great show amongst themselves to keep the F1 world competitive for the championship. With no one else in sight, the team looks strong enough to bag all the wins, as Toto Wolff himself claimed. Thus, because of all this, the comparison in driving has been confined to the two Red Bull drivers, and it seems Sergio Perez has gained quite some support after the Azerbaijan GP.
The Mexican who outplayed his teammate over the weekend in Baku has been hailed for his great driving in tight conditions. So, with this, the reigning champion’s abilities have come into question, which isn’t gelling well with his fans. As Peter Windsor, an F1 journalist, and a known name, reviews in his YouTube video, “Max got beaten in Baku because of his inferior technique on traction corners. It was going to be interesting by the time we got to Baku to see if he was a different driver in that respect – and he hasn’t improved. I think it’s the Sebastian Vettel syndrome.”
He further made comparisons between Max and Vettel’s 2014 season at Red Bull alongside Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso’s 2007 season with Lewis Hamilton as a teammate. He added, “I think Max probably thinks now: ‘There’s no way I can be learning anything from Sergio Perez. And if he wanted to, and he really got down to it, I’m sure he could improve.”

The Orange Army defends Max Verstappen against Windsor’s criticism
Max Verstappen’s fans didn’t like the review at all, as they went all blazing guns attacking Windsor. Highlighting the numbers and consistency from the past by the Dutchman, the fans accused Windsor of being biased and only looking at the short picture. Plus, his credentials were brought into question, as the Orange Army wasn’t having any of his opinions on their favorite driver.
Lately it’s all aboard the trash Max train by those Brits and when Max is comfortably leading the championship they will find another way to downplay his achievements

Peter needs to retire
2021 Verstappen dominated until his Pirelli tire blew.
2022 Verstappen crushed Perez easily
Now Peter tries to gaslight people as if Perez was always beter in Baku.

you’re as good as your last race, they said, but this is ridiculous 😂
— jotalina 🦝 (@jotalina) May 4, 2023
It's amazing that Verstappen averages one or two races a year where he drives worse than Perez and some people are already making some absurd theories.
— Don Panda (@DBejzid) May 4, 2023
What a rather bizarre conclusion by Peter!
Did he not know that Max worked on his settings / driving through the mid section of the race, found the right settings and was quicker towards the end of the race…? 👀

Max has one mid race after slapping Checo for 2 years straight and suddenly he’s inferior 💀
— Ebuc (@EbucEbuc) May 4, 2023
Fans were quick to remind Windsor of last season when Max comfortably defeated his teammate. His clash with Russell, resulting in new settings, was also cited as a reason for a second-place finish.
Ridiculous rubbish
Max suffered severe floor damage at hands of Russell on the Saturday, even if new floor still hard to get balance/set up right with no practice time

the standard that max verstappen brings to the sport is so goddamn high even a nonsense take like this exist
there's a reason why max driving style "push to the limit" is always being studied by drivers. he could've won '21 too if he didn't overblown his tyres. https://t.co/8eGa00Yv4s

Is this man okay??? What an horrendous take.
Did he forget who won there last year? And if Max finds stuff in Sergio's data he finds helpful I can't imagine him being too proud to say so.

With this win, Checo was termed the King of Baku, becoming only the first driver to win twice in Baku. Max, on the other hand, suffered reputational damage on all fronts.
