Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are putting on a great show amongst themselves to keep the F1 world competitive for the championship. With no one else in sight, the team looks strong enough to bag all the wins, as Toto Wolff himself claimed. Thus, because of all this, the comparison in driving has been confined to the two Red Bull drivers, and it seems Sergio Perez has gained quite some support after the Azerbaijan GP.

The Mexican who outplayed his teammate over the weekend in Baku has been hailed for his great driving in tight conditions. So, with this, the reigning champion’s abilities have come into question, which isn’t gelling well with his fans. As Peter Windsor, an F1 journalist, and a known name, reviews in his YouTube video, “Max got beaten in Baku because of his inferior technique on traction corners. It was going to be interesting by the time we got to Baku to see if he was a different driver in that respect – and he hasn’t improved. I think it’s the Sebastian Vettel syndrome.”

He further made comparisons between Max and Vettel’s 2014 season at Red Bull alongside Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso’s 2007 season with Lewis Hamilton as a teammate. He added, “I think Max probably thinks now: ‘There’s no way I can be learning anything from Sergio Perez. And if he wanted to, and he really got down to it, I’m sure he could improve.”

The Orange Army defends Max Verstappen against Windsor’s criticism

Max Verstappen’s fans didn’t like the review at all, as they went all blazing guns attacking Windsor. Highlighting the numbers and consistency from the past by the Dutchman, the fans accused Windsor of being biased and only looking at the short picture. Plus, his credentials were brought into question, as the Orange Army wasn’t having any of his opinions on their favorite driver.

Fans were quick to remind Windsor of last season when Max comfortably defeated his teammate. His clash with Russell, resulting in new settings, was also cited as a reason for a second-place finish.
