After winning the 2008 title, Hamilton went back to his hometown, a town where, as a little child, he faced a lot of hardships. He wanted to go back and see where it began, and how far he’d come. Lewis shared that it was a very humbling experience of being grateful for having achieved everything that he did, and for also realizing how hard he’s had to work to make it happen.

The interviewer pointed it out that it was rather nice of the Briton to have taken his then-girlfriend and Pussycat Dolls singer, Nicole Scherzinger. She continued to ask if Nicole liked it there?

To this, Hamilton smiled and said, “I just wanted to show where my life began and she was quite, I mean, can’t say she loved the place but she was just happy that I shared it with her.”

The interviewer asked Lewis if he’d seen this. Watching the footage, an emotional Lewis rejoiced and couldn’t seem to stop smiling. He spotted people in the video with excitement, saying, “My little cousin at the front. They’re so happy, wow. My aunties.”

He continued to state, “My family, they’re amazing people. And me, obviously I’ve got my close family, my immediate family but I’m just close to all my aunties, my cousins. And fortunately, they got to come to the race and support me.”
