Max Verstappen won the 2021 Formula One season in a spectacular manner. And French channel Canal+ have decided to showcase Verstappen’s heroics in a documentary.

The documentary titled ‘Born to Win’ encapsulates the Dutchman’s season and what made him the driver he is today. The French Channel have released the trailer of the show. This comes days after the reigning champion announced that he did not take part in Netflix’s documentary series, Drive to Survive.

Details of the documentary featuring Max Verstappen

Canal+ revealed that they will cover Verstappen’s successful 2021 season. They have also put Max Verstappen’s name along with the likes of Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Juan Manuel Fangio, and Lewis Hamilton.

The French Channel has also hinted the documentary could contain Verstappen’s younger days and what shaped him up to be a professional racing driver. The Dutchman made his F1 debut as a 17-year-old. And since Verstappen is 24 now, he already has the wisdom of an experienced driver. AlphaTauri driver, Pierre Gasly has also featured in the trailer and is seen talking about Verstappen’s journey.

The documentary will also reveal the role played by Verstappen’s family. Furthermore, Canal+ has disclosed that the show will feature Verstappen’s transfer from Toro Rosso to Red Bull at 18, as well as his first victory on his debut for Red Bull.

Why isn’t Verstappen Part of Drive to Survive?

Earlier, Max Verstappen revealed he will not be a part of Netflix’s Drive to Survive. The popular documentary series features all the behind-the-scenes action from the world of Formula One.

He admitted that the show helps attract interest from across the world. However, from the drivers’ perspective, he does not intend to be part of the coming season.

He conveyed, “The problem is they will always position you in a way they want, so whatever you say, they will try to make you look reckless or trying to make you… whatever fits the story of the series.”

The Dutch driver also believes that the series creates different narratives which are not true. He revealed he likes to concentrate on the races instead.
