Mika Hakkinen has ‘cold calculation’ advice for Lewis Hamilton

The audiences and the F1 insiders alike do not want to see Lewis Hamilton suffering in a subpar W14 as they want to see Hamilton win the coveted 8th World Championship. While the former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan thought Hamilton and Ferrari would be a dream team, another F1 veteran, Martin Brundle, told Hamilton to go to Ferrari and do great things, as Michael Schumacher did. But Mika Hakkinen, a two-time world champion, doesn’t just talk about speed; he talks about the mind games behind the wheel.
According to motorsport.com, Hakkinen advised Hamilton, “He has to analyze the future of Mercedes: he has to analyze who designs the next single-seaters, everyone’s motivations, the money available. He has to forget the emotions, he has to make a cold calculation of how difficult it is when you have achieved so many successes with a team. With his experience he can see what will happen in the next few years and there will be the ingredients to win again,” suggesting Hamilton must forget the emotions that come with such a monumental decision.

According to Michael Schmidt, Ferrari team management and Frederic Vasseur know that he may not be signing the contract with Ferrari, but they are still trying to push the momentum in hopes of some turnover in Hamilton’s thoughts. He also added saying, “I also think Hamilton is quite smart. He knows very well that even if they pay double in Maranello, things will not get any better there: Ferrari is not ahead of Mercedes. And every problem at Mercedes would multiply at Ferrari because he is even more in the spotlight.”
