This past December, the American fashion and lifestyle magazine, Vogue, published an issue with the photo of Kelly Piquet dressed in racing gear as the cover. Since the issue was majorly about ‘Women in Motorsports’, people didn’t like Kelly Piquet representing a community that she didn’t really belong to. So it wasn’t a surprise when fans criticized Kelly Piquet and the magazine for the same. The 34-year-old Brazilian model was on the front page, wearing a racing helmet.
Seeing Kelly Piquet on the cover of Vogue representing women in motorsport is disappointing.
There are so many women out there who actually compete in the sport and who have faced constant adversity.
These racers should have had their stories heard instead.#WomenInMotorsport pic.twitter.com/tZv7EAYJVi

Kelly Piquet, a Brazilian model, was born into a family of Formula One racers with her father being the three time f1 champion, Nelson Piquet. Despite that, Kelly Piquet’s involvement as a “Women in Motorsports” is arguable restricted to being there in the paddock and supporting her boyfriend, Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen.
Because of this, many criticized the magazine for giving the impression that she is a woman of motorsport or at least someone who can represent it, Fans cited that she lacks the resources to promote women in motorsports and many preferred that role to be filled by women who actually competes in the sport.
VOGUE!!✨Very surreal shooting with @voguemagazine and @ROLEX for December’s @VogueMexico edition 📸 pic.twitter.com/HQ3Grq6lJZ

And now, Jamie Chadwick herself has informed fans via social media that she had a great time shooting with Vogue, she wrote, “VOGUE!!✨Very surreal shooting with @voguemagazine and @ROLEX for December’s @VogueMexico edition.”
Jamie Chadwick and Red Bull strategist Hannah Schmitz were examples of people who were perfect to be on the cover of an issue themed around motorsports, given that they are idolized by millions of women. And now, when Vogue selected Jamie Chadwick after acknowledging the people’s disappointment, adoration and praise for the magazine were seen on social media.
Twitter F1 fans applaud VOGUE for choosing Jamie Chadwick
F1 fans expressed on Twitter that it was absurd that Vogue did not spotlight women who were actively taking part in motorsports. In the world of motorsports, there is no shortage of fascinating female talent. Given below are some reactions from fans reacting to both Piquet and Chadwick working with VOGUE.
On the Kelly Piquet Vogue interview, clearly they could have literally picked many inspirational women working in F1 to cover, Susie Wolff, Naomi Schiff or race driver Jamie Chadwick, who actually represents the positives of the sport, not the GF of Max🙄🤷♀️

out of SO MANY talented rising stars women drivers vogue Netherlands chose Kelly Piquet to be on their cover?? like, nothing personal against her but come on now there are so many women in motorsports that deserved it more than her, we wanna hear their stories too!!

I’m sorry why is Kelly Piquet on the cover of Vogue Netherlands?

Jamie would’ve been perfect considering the year she has had, but you have to be part of the society 🤷🏽♀️ on what grounds did they give kelly🤦🏽♀️

From the top of my head, they could of chose, Jamie Chadwick, Claire Williams, Susie Wolff or Naomi Schiff.
Choosing Kelly Piquet is very strange. Yes she’s been married to Kvyat and dating Max and her father is Nelson Piquet but she’s not had a career in motorsport herself #F1 https://t.co/iVu4YjQJd2

Fans were seen praising the choice of Vogue and acknowledging how they finally chose an actual female racer to represent the community.
So glad to see vogue acknowledged the public disappointment with their previous choice of a female in motorsport. Thank you @voguemagazine. Jamie is a true inspiration for women in general & within the sport 😁👏🏼

Good for Vogue Mexico going with a real racer, not like the Dutch version that used Max Verstappen's *girlfriend* as a representative for women racers!
