It took Everything Everywhere All At Once only 38 days to film. That’s 38 days plus hours and hours of pre- and post-production for the Academy to realize how good a job Michelle Yeoh did as the leading actress in the film, which led her to win her first Oscar—the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. But as compared to another huge milestone in her life, 38 days is nothing. In fact, 38 days are 184 times less than what it took for Yeoh and her fiancee to finally tie the knot. Yes, that’s 6992 days, or in simpler terms, 19 years for her and former Ferrari Team Principal and CEO Jean Todt to get married after Todt popped the question. But the reveal happened in the most unorthodox way.

The ceremony on 27th July in Geneva, Switzerland, was a private one, attended by only the couple’s closest friends and family. But former Ferrari driver Felipe Massa might not have gotten the memo because he posted a picture of their wedding invitation, along with a few pictures with the couple, on his Instagram. And, inadvertently, he spilled the beans on their private wedding. While Yeoh and Todt would’ve eventually revealed their union, Massa fast-forwarded the process.

The invitation said, “We met in Shanghai on 4th June 2004. On 26th June 2004, J.T. proposed to marry M.Y., and she said YES!” It took Todt and Yeoh only a month to realize they were meant for each other. It further read, “Today after 6992 days on 27th July 2023 in Geneva, surrounded by loving family and friends, we are so happy to celebrate this special moment together!”

Considering the news was out, Jean Todt made a hilarious official statement on Twitter, referring to Massa as his “other son.” He wrote, “Now that my other son @MassaFelipe19 has « discreetly » spread the good news, I can happily confirm the union with the Love of my life, Michelle.” With Todt and Massa having worked together at Ferrari, the two grew very close and, in the words of Todt, had a father-son relationship. But Todt’s “other son” stole his big moment, which might’ve reminded Massa of the 2008 F1 season.

Rewind to the 2008 Formula 1 season. In the final race of the season at the Brazilian GP—Massa’s home race—he was fighting for the championship. And after crossing the line first, he thought he had secured his first championship, only for Lewis Hamilton to make an overtake on the final lap and steal the title from him. Needless to say, Massa was heartbroken after Hamilton took his big moment away from him.

Todt and Yeoh would’ve wanted to make the announcement themselves, but Massa (accidentally) beat them to it. And while the couple won’t be as heartbroken as he was in 2008, he still did steal their big reveal.
