The Daniel Ricciardo to AlphaTauri saga might have captured everyone’s attention and the headlines. However, plenty is going on in the background for the teams in this silly season. The F1 silly season is in full swing since the end of the 2022 season but on the management front. The teams are hard at each other’s throats with a lot of engineers swapping all across the grid. Mercedes, the most successful constructor in the last few decades, has come out on the losing side of the recent transfer. After Lewis Hamilton and Co. lost a key figure to Ferrari, McLaren, and Alpine bosses’ visit to the Ferrari compound is sending the rumor mill into overdrive.

For the unaware, Mercedes has lost engineers and top-level staff to Aston Martin and Williams in recent months. Ferrari was suffering the safe fate recently. They lost David Sanchez to McLaren and sporting director Laurent Mekies to AlphaTauri. So after Ferrari was unsuccessful in prizing away technical director Pierre Wache away from Red Bull, they turned their attention to the Mercedes man.

Now no one is sure what this all means in the managerial transfer market. As seen just toward the end of 2022, the team bosses can have a huge merry-go-round. However, these visits are definitely sending the rumor mills into overdrive. However, this domino effect started with the appointment of Frederic Vasseur, who is taking the Italian team away from its core.
