For now, there seem to be three unending things in F1. One is Max Verstappen’s dominance. Second is Fernando Alonso’s career, and the third is Lewis Hamilton‘s contract renewal negotiations. The last one has drawn a lot of attention to it. The biggest surprise was Hamilton’s demand for $25 million each year for an Ambassador role with Mercedes, for a 10-year period. Following that last update, the Briton has now given a new, unsure update about the negotiations.
A week before the Canadian GP, Mercedes Boss Toto Wolff had said that it should be a matter of days before the contract is signed. Since then, it has been 3 weeks and the bottom of the contract still remains unsigned. The last update was Hamilton asking for $25 million a year, for 10 years for being an Ambassador, on top of a 5-year, $319 million contract extension. After that, both parties have been awfully silent in the media. But in a press conference ahead of the Austrian GP, Hamilton has given a fresh update about the negotiations.
In the media pen, Lewis Hamilton was asked if there is an update on the contract talks, to which he replied: "Nothing new."https://t.co/wBvTAwTWVT

While the 2 parties remain tight-lipped about the topic, F1 pundits have their own opinions about it.
A Former F1 World Champion has shed some light on why there have been no public updates about the Contract renewal.

Though Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton are very good friends, their friendship doesn’t seem to be helping with the professional side of things. There are many theories as to why Hamilton is not able to find a seat for 2024. But, all of them are gibberish unless Mercedes or Hamilton come forward with something substantial. But, it seems Former F1 World Champion Damon Hill has some inside information about the deal.
Hill told the Press Association, “The talk is that Lewis is finalizing a much longer-term deal that goes beyond his racing career. The car company itself is involved, so there is a bit more bureaucracy in this deal.”
