The Honey Badger deleted the ‘F1 driver’ description off of his Instagram profile earlier today. However, with another social media announcement, the Aussie seems to have stepped into a new role altogether.

Daniel Ricciardo was in conversation with Mercedes and Red Bull regarding the role of a third driver for the upcoming season as his contract with McLaren came to an end. According to most speculations, the Aussie’s move was leaning toward the Silver Arrows.

Now, it is all official, as Red Bull posted a video on their Instagram that featured Daniel Ricciardo. The Aussie was seen wearing the Red Bull T-shirt as he made a little speech. According to the video, Ricciardo is back at Red Bull, but this time as their reserve driver. The Aussie is extremely happy about starting over with the team that got him his first race win.

In the video, Daniel said, “I’m Daniel. And this might look familiar. I’m back. Back to where it all started. It feels really nice, to say the least. There’s certainly a very warm, fuzzy feeling inside me. It’s nice to be back home. It’s cool, it’s made me very happy.”

And with his comeback with the home team, he’s appreciative of the warm welcome he received from the team principal, Christian Horner, and team advisor, Helmut Marko.

To conclude, he said, “For me personally, the ability to contribute to and be surrounded by the best team in F1 is hugely appealing, whilst also giving me some time to recharge and refocus. I can’t wait to be with the team and support with simulator work, testing sessions and commercial activities.
