Tell Lance my brake balance suggestion as I am now. I think it’s a good help,” said a charitable Fernando Alonso running behind Lewis Hamilton during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. While we haven’t really seen this side of Nando as he has made it clear that his teammate is his “Hero”. But since the ball has been in Lance Stroll‘s court for 5 races now, the son of billionaire Lawrence Stroll has stepped up to reciprocate.

The first time Lance met Fernando was when the Canadian driver was very young and part of the Ferrari Driver Academy. However, there was no immediate friendship as the 12-year-old Stroll could only be in awe of Nando like a lot of other drivers on the grid. But as fate held, the two ended up as teammates in 2023 and they cannot stop gushing about each other. As quoted by Motorsports, Lance stated he absolutely enjoyed working with the Spaniard.

The Canadian driver said, “He is incredibly talented, has a lot of knowledge and experience, and is hungry to get the most out of himself every day. I have a lot of respect for him because he’s been doing that for a long time. How many years has he been at this level? Over twenty years?”

He added, “I have a lot of respect for it, for the dedication, focus, and motivation that he shows every day. We have a fantastic synergy in the team and the car is really nice to drive. We have a great bond and we both try to get more out of the car every weekend. As a team, we try to come up with more and better ideas to improve the to improve the setup, to make it even better. That dynamic is really good.”

While there is no love lost between Fernando and Lance, the former is certainly growing impatient with his love affair with the third step of the podium.

“obviously want more,” says an impatient Fernando Alonso

While the team principal Mike Krack has urged his drivers and the team to not take the podiums for granted just because they have bagged 4 out 5 in the 2023 campaign, the matador who had been dormant for 10 years is certainly growing restless.

Fernando said, “I think at the beginning of the year a podium was amazing. Now after four podiums, we want obviously more, and at least a second place.”

But he did voice his concern. He added, “But the two Red Bulls are always unbreakable, and they are always super-fast. But maybe Monaco, maybe Barcelona we have a possibility.”
