“My Best Enemy” is the infamous song by Hans Zimmer that plays at the end of the F1 movie Rush. One can take that song and put it as a background for any intense moment between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, and it will perfectly fit. The German called it quits after coming out on top in a fight with Hamilton. And has now urged George Russell to push Mercedes while exposing the 7X champs arrogance. But what did he say?
Let’s go back in time for a few months. It’s light out and away we go at the Qatar GP, and Lewis Hamilton and George Russell collide on lap 1 going into the corner. While both Mercedes drivers were furious at what had happened, it was Lewis Hamilton who came out and accepted his mistake that cost the team huge points. Nico Rosberg took a shot at this very thing to reveal an arrogant trait of his former teammate and nemesis.
Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton were involved in multiple incidents as teammates, especially in the 2016 season. The German recently revealed how Hamilton never accepted his mistake fully back in the day, and doing that with Russell in Qatar was a surprising sight for him. According to Motorsport-Total.com, Rosberg said, “Qatar was good for George because Lewis actually admitted [that he was wrong]. This was a great victory for George in this respect, even internally, which is very rare. Because in my time it was never 100 percent Lewis’ fault.”

He further talked about the power struggle at Mercedes as he asked Russell to put pressure on Mercedes in such situations. He said, “It is also a very difficult situation for George. Unfortunately, you can’t just be the nice guy in this situation. You also have to maintain the pressure internally. Unfortunately, you have to make it difficult for the team. It’s annoying, but otherwise, the team will always take the easiest way.”

Lewis Hamilton to be wary of George Russell’s potential
George Russell came into Mercedes in 2022 and straightaway beat the 7X champ teammate in the first season. After all, Russell was brought in as a replacement for Hamilton once he decided to retire. However, this leaves Mercedes in a fix for the current scenario with both going toe to toe. It’s almost an Alain Prost vs Ayrton Senna situation all over again. And while Hamilton is the most decorated driver in F1, he was warned of George Russell’s threat.
As per Express.co.uk, Johnny Herbert warned Hamilton of Russell’s threat as he said, “George has done very well against Lewis, but you have seen a slight shift. It was all about George at the beginning of the season, now Lewis seems to be getting a better job done. But George isn’t a thousand miles away, that’s the difference with him.”
