Unexpected twists and turns occur frequently in the world of motorsports. And when we think of Australia and Formula 1, Daniel Ricciardo is undoubtedly the first person who jumps to mind. However, while Ricciardo is now missing from the F1 grid, you’d be surprised to hear that another Australian is reportedly set to throw a challenge or rather a bet on McLaren’s team CEO Zak Brown.

The team McLaren is currently fighting an uphill battle to give its drivers a vehicle component for a midfield battle. However, what if the team that is reportedly making the right steps now offers its drivers a vehicle to compete for the top spots? Oscar Piastri was recently heard in a podcast called The Fellas Podcast where he was questioned whether there is any bet he can toss to the American who has regularly been seen matching the bet of his drivers, if a certain outcome is achieved. The host of the show asked, ” How about this? If you get a certain result, whatever result that you determine, after that you have to get a mullet.”

By taking inspiration from Daniel Ricciardo’s spectacular shoey celebration at the 2021 Italian GP, where the honey badger secured a victory for the team after nine years, and at the podium celebration in his own unique way presented the champagne to Brown from his shoe. Piastri responded, “So on that topic, yeah. Zak has said like with quite a few drivers he has a bet if you get on the podium actually, we still haven’t decided what that’s gonna be. So maybe we could get.”

Being fully aware that Brown to commemorate that special day got a tattoo of Monza on his arm. The rookie continued by posing the very Australian task of pulling off the mullet, a pretty common appearance there. “ Yeah, I’ll be waiting. Maybe that’s the best I can have the sack. We can get matching mullets.”
