Qualifying is everything in the streets of the Principality of Monaco. Acing the fine margins, the kisses to barriers are what make up the Saturday session. And while the Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc aimed at pulling an Ayrton Senna by grabbing onto his third consecutive pole, he could only manage a P3 in an intense battle to the pole. But how desperate is he to win and will the Monaco curse strike again?
The Monegasque driver on the grid is the man who has been the unluckiest in the streets of Monaco. He has five Grand Prix starts in Monaco where he has only finished 1 race that too outside the podium. And with a penalty looming because of the error of slowing down in the tunnel and rain gods preparing to shower their glory, how will the curse affect him this time around?
During the press conference after the qualifying session, Leclerc was asked if he was wishing for rain tomorrow and planning to go rain dancing. To which he replied, “No, I am not that desperate [..] If it‘s a dry race and we can stay on the podium, it‘s already a good weekend.” But fans have already begun pouring in their sympathies for the poor lad.
