The Adrian Newey x Red Bull era is coming to an end. The rumors surrounding the Technical Mastermind’s exit have now been confirmed. According to reports, Newey has finally handed in his written resignation, highlighting his broken relationship with Team Principal Christian Horner. Moreover, the British Engineer is said to be pursuing his Ferrari dream over Aston Martin’s lucrative offer.
The Christian Horner investigation threw Red Bull’s dirty laundry out in the open. A ‘power struggle’ within the team emerged, with Christian Horner wanting to be the sole man in command. This led to fractions developing within the team, with Helmut Marko, Max Verstappen, and his father, Jos Verstappen, pitted against Horner. Adrian Newey, despite being averse to such politics, lost his desire to keep serving the team and fulfilling his dream.
As per Motorsport-Total, Newey has finally had enough of this tension-filled atmosphere. He has handed in his resignation in writing and is set to depart at the beginning of next year, despite his contract running till the end of 2025. Red Bull is expected to make an official announcement before the Miami GP weekend.

Adrian Newey is the hottest property in F1’s technical personnel market. Having designed cars that have won 12 constructors’ championships and 13 drivers’ championships, both Aston Martin and Ferrari are vying for his services. Newey, however, is not very interested in the offer by Lawrence Stroll & Co.
Instead, the Briton wants to work towards his unfulfilled dream of working with Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton. BBC’s Andrew Benson has reported: “I’m told by sources close to him that he (Newey) is seriously considering Ferrari but is not interested in going to Aston Martin.”
If Newey officially closes the deal with Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton’s dream of his 8th championship could very well pan out. As for Red Bull, former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher’s ugly prophecy is coming true. The German had said that Newey needed “harmony” within the team which Christian Horner couldn’t provide. “I give Red Bull two more years and if they continue to hold on to Horner, then the team will sink into mediocrity,” he concluded.
