Sebastian Vettel had an emotional race weekend at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where he drove the Ferrari for one last time. Despite finishing the race in a disappointing P14, the German found himself on the receiving end of a gigantic trophy from the Ferrari crew.

The team handed the four-time world champion the massive trophy which had his 14 race wins engraved in it. Following the emotional goodbyes, Vettel revealed that he was surprised when Ferrari gifted him the trophy.

The trophy? I was surprised too. I didn’t think I would take home a trophy at the end of a race that ended in fourteenth position, and it will be certainly a good memory,” he said.

It is a well-known truth that Vettel always had the dream of racing for Ferrari. Hence, the fact that his massive dream has finally reached the end would have made him emotional. Also, Ferrari, too, will definitely miss the charismatic character of Vettel inside their garage.

Moreover, Vettel is one of the most successful Ferrari drivers in the team’s Formula 1 career. Hence, it will be interesting to see how the Maranello-outfit proceeds from here.

The German had an emotional drive back into the pits after the chequered flag at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He utilized the cool-down lap to sing an Italian song to sign off his time with the Ferrari.

He later revealed why he opted to sing the Italian song. “Every time I’ve been happy with our work, I don’t know why, but I started singing.

And I wanted to do it again today, one last time, singing a very popular Italian song like Azzurro, by Adriano Celentano. I changed the text. So, I hope I don’t have any problems with copyrights,” he said.

Vettel will now make a huge leap from an Italian team to a British team, come 2021. Although Aston Martin is currently racing in the mid-field, their partnership with Mercedes will definitely increase their prospects of reaching the top step in coming years.

Hence, Vettel will play a vital role in leading the team in the right direction with the use of his abundant experience. Overall, can the German see himself on the podium again?
