Max Verstappen had earlier joked about the P3 position on the starting grid. He had said that his regular spot being that with a front row lockout for Mercedes, the spot might have his prints. Well, Verstappen is not wrong as his entire season has been about chasing the AMGs round the track.

With Lewis Hamilton down with COVID, two drivers looking to secure maximum points were Max and Bottas. Well, fate turned her back on both at Sakhir and one retired from the very first lap and the other finished P8. Does not seem like the maximum points for anyone.

The first lap incident saw three cars spinning out at Sakhir Grand Prix. Perez went onto win the race miraculously, but Leclerc and Max Verstappen had to retire. Well, neither the Dutchman, nor the Monagasse, had any complaints for each other. Rather, they dealt with it very maturely.

However, after the qualifying session at Sakhir, Verstappen gave up any hope on pole position. The surprise stint by George Russell had the Dutchman joke that he will satisfy himself with a P3  for this season. In that context, Ziggo sports tweeted a hilarious incident from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

“The deed by the word. After the qualifying of the #SakhirGP of Bahrain dropped @ Max33Verstappen knew to bring the ‘P3 seat’ at the end of the season. This afternoon the Dutchman quietly walked away with the seat on his shoulder after the press conference,”  read the tweet.

Max Verstappen is happy with P3 for Drivers’ championship

Max Verstappen has matured through his years in F1. The initial years saw a hot-headed teenager who understood nothing but pace from the Red Bull cars. However, Dr. Helmut Marko, the visionary in the sport, believed in the Dutchman and his belief is finally paying off.

Max Verstappen has developed humor and compassion with his age. He has learned to work with the team and follow strategies. Well, eventually, this young lad will go far if he continues to nourish and grow his education of the game.

One stark example of the same would be his reaction to the Sakhir crash. He did not shout or blame it on anyone, either his team or Leclerc. On the contrary, he accepted his fault and walked away peacefully. His intention to learn from it and not fight over it displays his growth in the game.

Max may have chased the Mercedes the entire season. However, he was also the only one to pose serious trouble for them at times. Well, he looks ahead to 2021 after it set him to get the P3 position for the driver’s championship this season.
