Red Bull and Max Verstappen have been the dominant force this season. It was clear after the first quarter of the 2023 F1 season that it would take something special to beat the Bulls. And it did take a Carlos Sainz special at Singapore to take a win away from Red Bull. However, as we come to the end of the season, all of Italy’s hopes rest on the Nation Team as Ferrari is praised. But what is being said?

Christian Horner, during an episode of the Eff Won Podcast, was asked what’s wrong with Ferrari as they’ve got all the resources of a top team. Horner advised that the problem is that Ferrari is a National Team and needs to get back to being a race team. Italians take pride in Ferrari and consider it as their national team. It has also been advised many times how the Italian media can affect what’s going on in Maranello.

Yet despite these hold-ups, Ferrari has been able to catch Mercedes in the fight for P2 in the Constructors’ Championship. Some races ago, the Italian Team was about 60 odd points behind Mercedes. Going into the final round, the gap has been reduced to 4 points. Renowned Journalist Leo Turrini spoke about how getting second place in the Constructors’ Championship despite all the things around Ferrari will be praiseworthy.

According to Quotidiano.net, Leo Turrini said, “There are now just four points between Ferrari and Mercedes. I know that purists don’t give a damn about a second place in the constructors’ standings, but put as we are, it’s not bad to learn to appreciate the (little) good that there is, between Maranello and its surroundings.”

“Momentum is with us”: Frederic Vasseur hopes of Beating Mercedes to P2 in constructors

Mercedes’ form in recent times hasn’t been something to write home about. Ever since Lewis Hamilton‘s disqualification at the US GP, barring the Mexico podium, the performance has been a nightmare for the German team. Ferrari, on the other hand, has been on the rise, with Charles Leclerc scoring a brilliant podium in Las Vegas. Frederic Vasseur, based on the recent form of both teams, highlighted that Ferrari has momentum going into Abu Dhabi.

Frederic Vasseur said, “If you consider that we were 60 points behind them a few races ago, we are on a good path. But Abu Dhabi will be a different story, four points is nothing or a lot. We were able to perform in Monza, in Singapore, in Austin, in Mexico and during this weekend on different tires, in different conditions and different compounds and we can be more than motivated before Abu Dhabi. The momentum is with us, so let’s see what happens.”
