Recently, F1 has been surrounded by drama, and the end of the Japanese Grand Prix was no different. Seeing this, an Academy and Emmy award-winning comedian, actor, and writer, Travon Free, had a few things to say on his social media handles.
The way the Japanese Grand Prix concluded, Free believes that the situation wasn’t as simple as it seemed. In fact, he firmly believed that things were ‘rigged’.

Max Verstappen won the 2022 World Championship with his win at the Suzuka Circuit. He won the race with a surreal 25+ second lead, but the regulations and technicalities surrounding the points system threw people off. It wasn’t until the post-race interviews that Verstappen was informed about his title win.
Although Leclerc finished in P2, he exceeded the track limits on the last lap and got a 5-second penalty, which demoted him to P3 and handed the 2022 title to Max.
Evidently unhappy with the confusing results and possibly thinking that the entire ordeal was planned, Travon Free took to his Twitter and wrote, “So after today how do you convince anyone Formula 1 isn’t a rigged sport run by money grabbers?”
The following tweet said, “You can’t love the sport and not be worried about the things that are taking place and they way they’re taking place.”
Travon, concluded, stating, “Honestly the greatest gift is not having to hear Verstepdad shout over the radio that Costcappen won the title at the end of the race.”

Even Max Verstappen was left asking people if he was the champion
Post his victory, Max Verstappen celebrated his win at the podium and finished his first round of interviews with enthusiasm. But that didn’t last long for the Dutchman.
After he celebrated his title, the talks about the technicalities started brewing up. There was uncertainty about whether Max will receive full points. With the second round of post-race interviews, even Max was heard asking, “Have I or have I not? I am hearing different things.”

Post all the debates, when Max was given the World Driver Champion title, the Dutchman sat down in front of a ‘World Champion’ banner in a throne room and said, “I feel a bit lonely.”
