Formula One will be entering a new era in the 2022 season. The sport will bring in new regulations and rules to make the competition closer and introduce a budget cap for the teams. Not only F1 but its governing body is also preparing to overhaul its structure. Newly appointed FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem mentioned that the organization will introduce three new working groups.
These three new working groups were on the agenda of the new FIA president as he plans to modernize the governing body. The first working group will work with the president while the second one will look over the governance. The third working group will look at the financial aspect of the organization.

A new era has begun for the FIA: Sulayem
Ben Sulayem became the FIA President in December after he took over from Jean Todt. The overhauling of the FIA is the first major step that he has taken in his presidency.
“A new era has begun for the FIA, through the creation of a governance framework based on openness and international diversity. This is a key pillar of our strategy and I warmly thank the members of the World Board who approved the changes,” said Ben Sulayem.
“The accountability and authority of the World Council, which emanates from our members, will be increased. A more effective oversight model will be designed, stakeholder priorities will be aligned, and a cost-effective and accountable operation of the FIA will be ensured.

To achieve these goals, the federation’s governing bodies and administration will work closely together to make the FIA the global voice of motorsport and mobility,” said Ben Sulayem.
Well, this certainly is a big change from the old regime made by Ben Sulayem. It is good to see that the organization is preparing itself for an overhaul of this magnitude. Let’s wait and watch how this new modernized structure works out.
