Ferrari team principal, Mattia Binotto, is someone who has followed the career of Charles Leclerc very closely. He has looked after the Monegasque through his junior career and even his time at the team in Red so far. Binotto has watched the youngster grow through his years in the sport and has some major claims about his driver.
Binotto hails Leclerc as a “leader”
Charles Leclerc has seen his stock rise massively in his short stint as an F1 driver. He has gone on to establish himself as one of the sports’ biggest talents. Leclerc is currently also best situated to pick up the title this season. In addition to this, his team boss, Mattia Binotto, has also heaped glowing praise on the 24-year-old.

The Italian recently lauded Leclerc for his maturity and growth as a driver. He said, “Charles Leclerc is becoming a leader,” talking about his progression in the team. So far this season, he does look the part, with him spearheading the Ferrari charge.

Binotto was also further quizzed about their title chances in the drivers and constructors this season, to which he said, “A crown wouldn’t be bad, would it?”. The 2022 season has seen Ferrari mount a charge for the constructors. Consequently, they lead the drivers’ standings as well with Charles Leclerc. Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto is still keeping the team before the driver and aiming to secure the constructors.
However, he is still open to the idea of securing both championships. He said, “An F1 Drivers’ title would be extraordinary, but our goal goes further”. He later outlines that the team has plans beyond just the current season.
