The constant quest for innovation is an integral part of life in Formula 1. However, for the 2023 season, Mercedes needed to dig deeper than the others to bring innovation and changes to its challenger. For weeks, the Brackley outfit had been teasing the massive upgrades to the W14. However, due to the unfortunate flooding in Imola, the fans had to wait another week to set their sights on the revamped W14. Although nothing stays hidden in the world of Formula 1, and that is exactly why we have a sneak peek into Lewis Hamilton and George Russell’s new machinery.
The car will make its delayed debut in Monaco, starting from the Friday practice sessions. Every session will be crucial for Mercedes to gather as much data as possible. The new machinery has kept everyone, including Hamilton, hopeful for better output and results. However, nothing is guaranteed as Mercedes is stepping into new territory after the 2022 season.
What new territory you may ask? Well, as revealed by journalist Albert Fabrega on Twitter, the W14 has a new sidepod design. The photo, albeit extremely blurry, showcases a wider and rounded sidepod inlet. There is also a tunnel under the sidepod.

So after sticking to their guns for almost a year, the team back in Brackley has backtracked and abandoned the zero sidepod design.
This delayed reaction to introduce the massive change was due to hope in the groundbreaking sidepod design. However, as it turns out, it wasn’t a suitable design for the current regulations.
Regardless, the change is here now, and the fans cannot contain their excitement.
Fans rejoice as they celebrate the glimpse of the new W14 design which will boost Lewis Hamilton and Co’s fight in 2023

The fans are definitely not adhering to these warnings. They are letting their hearts pour in the reactions as one user even tweeted, “8th is coming.”
