Police one caught Lewis Hamilton once speeding in London! Hamilton described what happened after that in his own words on the famous show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman”. Notably, this particular episode of the acclaimed chat show premiered in 2018, when Hamilton was a reigning world champion.

Season 2 Episode 4 of the show dives deep into the British racing legend’s life story as he chats with Letterman. The American host is one of the most renowned names around the globe, owing to his late-night show “Late Night with David Letterman”. Further, Letterman’s 33 years of experience in the genre makes him one of the most popular TV hosts ever.

In the episode, the famed host frames the question, “Have you ever been pulled over in your road car?”. To this Hamilton casually replied, “Unfortunately, yeah”. However, the audience was in shock as Hamilton revealed what the policeman said to him. He narrated, “I got flashing lights behind me. And he came to the window, and he’s like, Who do you think you are? Lewis Hamilton?.” 

“And he looked down, and he’s like ‘Oh geez’, it was really cool.” This made the audience burst into applause as Hamilton finished his story.

Clearly, the driver was stoked to share this story with the audience. Several fans around the globe widely regard him as a racing icon, making him a perfect guest for Letterman’s show.

This season, however, has not been so forgiving to the British driver. As a usual race winner, he has won no races at all this season. Further, the seven-time world champion was also a victim of racist abuse by a former driver. The Briton, after the abuse, has received a plethora of support from all around the globe.

Aside from thanking people for the support he received, he also made a statement on the ongoing issue that read, “It’s more than language. These archaic mindsets need to change and have no place in our sport. I’ve been surrounded by these attitudes and targeted my whole life. There has been plenty of time to learn. Time has come for action.”
