Lewis Hamilton has achieved everything on track, yet he still keeps going. Being one of the most dominant figures in the sport, all he has ever known is to win. Perhaps that is why he has more wins in his tally than every racer, on the 2023 grid, combined. But now he feels he has another calling. In a conversation with Jay Shetty, he revealed his next stop. And it is not only about winning anymore.
Hamilton has been a key proponent of human rights in the Formula 1 world. He uses his popularity and voice to steer conversations around key issues plaguing the world. Having been at the receiving end of racism and bullying, the champion understands the societal issues tormenting the globe. At every opportunity, he strives to raise awareness and advocate for change, also calling for greater diversity and inclusion in Formula 1 primarily.
Talking to Jay Shetty on his Podcast, Lewis revealed that his life centered around winning in order to be accepted, initially. But now, having been around for so long, he knows things don’t end at winning. They rather begin there. He said, “My whole life, first, was everything in order to be accepted in order to fit in and maybe to be appreciated.”

He added, “Until I got older, I realized it’s about the bigger picture, but when you have success, it’s so short-lived. I think during the last couple of last few years really understanding that it’s about the bigger picture. I’m fighting for something far greater than winning a race. I’m really fighting for changing the world.”
Hamilton has often spent his time off the track speaking up against racism, whether that be within F1 or the wider society. Entering the 17th year of his career and having won seven titles equaling Michael Schumacher‘s record, he still doesn’t have another driver who matches up to him. The mighty mindset is, perhaps, what keeps him going.

Lewis Hamilton was the first Black driver to win a Formula 1 driver’s world championship back in 2008. He often mentions he has had to work twice as hard to reach where he is. Recently, he gave us a sneak peek into what goes on inside the mind of the champion.
Giving an insight, he said, “You win a race, then you go back home. The weekend’s so intense you’ve seen it. There’s so much energy, so much it’s really, really in a stressful environment for everyone that’s working within it. There’s a huge come down like one or two days later and you’re trying to balance those emotions that emotional rollercoaster learning to kind of channel that and figure out ways to keep it balanced whether with your routine and those sorts of things has been really key for me.”
