Red Bull saw their first double podium of the season as Max Verstappen and Alex Abon finished P2 and P3, respectively. Lewis Hamilton successfully kept Verstappen at bay. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez’s retirement with four laps to go bumped Alex Albon to a podium finish.
Alex Albon is driving for his Formula 1 seat next year, as Helmut Marko has clarified that only his results can earn his Formula 1 contract next season. Albon has managed only two podiums this season till now.
Albon started the race after the red flag at P5 and soon moved up to P4. According to reports, he spent most of his time at P4 and kept falling behind Verstappen lap after lap. Meanwhile, Verstappen stated that his teammate’s race at Bahrain not impressed him.

He said, “I don’t think that if you are 30 or 40 seconds behind your team-mate, that’s very good.
“I can just be honest about that, right?”
“It was a shame for Checo too, because I think he drove a very strong race. It’s nice for Alex that he is on the podium,” he further added.
Christian Horner states the podium will help Albon

Alex Albon had a crash during his Free Practice 2 session. Christian Horner acknowledged it was a powerful performance by Albon to claim a podium finish following his crash. He said, “Alex benefitted from what happened to Perez, but I think his recovery from Friday’s crash was strong.”
It is rumored that Nico Hulkenberg or Sergio Perez could replace Alex Albon next season at Red Bull. Christian Horner has stated that Alex Albon has the complete support of the team. However, there have been rumors of talks with Hulkenberg and Perez.
“No decisions about contracts will be made until the end of the season, but we do want Alex to be successful and will give him every chance. Days like today will help him,” Christian Horner further added.

Alex Albon has only two more races left this season. It will be imperative for him to get the best possible result in the remaining races; after all, his results in the next two races will decide his fate in Formula 1.
