Even before the racing action unfolds on the weekend, Lewis Hamilton usually grabs the spotlight with his fashion selection for the venue. For many years he has been outspoken about his love for Fashion and as it turns out, the Brit is a huge sneakerhead as well.

The driver born in Stevenage comes from a very humble background. As he grew up, he learned more and more about the hardships of life and his financial background. Notably, his father had to work 4 jobs to fund his karting career and keep the racing dream alive for the Hamilton family.

Although, he found himself invested in racing; the Briton could not resist owning a fresh pair of kicks. In an interview with Complex, he took a trip down memory lane and revisited the memory of how he saved each penny to buy a pair of Jordans worth $185.

The interviewer asked, “Do you remember your first pair of Jordans?”

“My first J’s were probably I think the Infrareds 6s, but I had to save up for them because, and it was not easy to find. Had to go online and um, I still have them.” Hamilton replied.

Remarkably, Air Jordan VI is the shoe that Michael Jordan wore when he claimed his maiden world title. Moreover, the design of the shoe is inspired by the basketball legend’s German sports car; the essence of the shoe is to display speed and class.

Lewis Hamilton and Tommy Hilfiger’s collaboration

The seven-time world champion is a global superstar and is one of the most accomplished driver in the sport’s history. This, combined with his love for fashion, made it an easy decision for Tommy Hilfiger to sign the Mercedes ace as their brand ambassador.

 

As he signed with the fashion designer he said, “The goal with the Tommy Hilfiger collections is to do it right, so at the end I can take the Tommy name away from it and it still stands on its own, that’s the real dream!”

“25% of the current collection is eco-friendly and is recyclable material, the second collection is close to 40% and my goal is when I get to stand alone is that 100% of all the material I use will be eco-friendly.”

Lewis practiced what he preached by launching the TOMMYXLEWIS collection, which was a big hit in the fashion world while using sustainable materials. Additionally, the infamous fashion company also sponsors the Mercedes and can be spotted on the collar of the team kit.
