From the outside looking in, the life of a Formula 1 driver is all glitz, glory, and luxury. For the most part, it is just that. However, if you ask any celebrity, the one thing they miss most or hold sacred is their privacy. Once the public eyes are set on a celebrity, they stick. Now imagine being Lewis Hamilton who’s been in the limelight since 2007. The Brit is one of the most popular sports personalities on the planet. This is precisely why Hamilton took extra measures to hide his multi-million dollar purchase back in 2017.
How did he do it? The Brit declared himself the owner of three offshore companies. The companies incorporated in the British Virgin Islands, with correspondence addresses in Guernsey, were not set up to avoid taxes. Instead, according to a report by UK-based news outlet the Guardian, Hamilton set these companies up for privacy.
According to the report, Hamilton used the company to purchase a $20.4 million property in central London. Hamilton made this purchase in 2017 through the Virgin Islands company for the purpose of securing his privacy.
