There are countless instances in Formula 1, where drivers defy team orders and pursue their own agenda instead. As a result, they come under intense scrutiny. But what if defying team orders helped you earn your first Formula 1 victory? Recently, Carlos Sainz gave a peculiar interview on his first victory at Silverstone the previous year. The interview has drawn harsh criticism from Charles Leclerc supporters.
Ferrari quite handily compensated for all the drama that the previous season dished out. Despite a strong start to the season, the team dropped to second place in the Constructor’s Championship, besides the team’s wonder kid Charles Leclerc. He could have perhaps brought the Scuderia its first title after 15 years but failed to do so due to several reasons.
Leclerc had his sights set on another outstanding victory at the British Grand Prix. However, his dream came crashing when the safety car was brought out after Esteban Ocon’s DNF. After all the leaders pitted for the soft tires, Ferrari, for some reason, didn’t put Leclerc in the pits. Until that point, the Monegasque had been in the lead of the race, but shortly after the restart, when Ferrari told Carlos Sainz, who was in second place, to maintain a safe distance from the field and defend Charles Leclerc’s victory, the Spaniard refused and yelled on the team radio to “stop inventing stuff.” And today, when the 28-year-old was questioned about the Silverstone Grand Prix, the Spaniard provided a snarky response to which the F1 fans on Twitter have raised questions on his PR team.

As per formulapassion.com. He said, “That is not a phrase that I try to remember a lot, or that comes to me to use, but it makes me laugh when people on the street shout ‘stop inventing’ at me. I kid you not, it reminds me of good memories. It’s a memory of the first win and the way it happened. It makes me laugh, but as a team you have to be careful.”
Following the bizarre response of Carlos Sainz to the Silverstone GP stunt, Twitter F1 fans encircle the Spaniard
Scuderia experienced difficulties throughout the entire season. Sometimes it was a reliability issue, other times it can be a driver error. On days when both of these problems seem to be resolved, the squad committed tactical mistakes. Nonetheless, the Silverstone GP, where the Spaniard claimed his maiden victory, is among the most contentious races of the entire season. And when earlier in the post-race interview, when Sainz they questioned about his “choice,” of defying team order, the Spaniard responded that none of the drivers would have won that day if he had followed the team’s plan.
However, after his recent statements, the F1 fans have flooded the Twitter comment section with a variety of responses. Some of them have also been rooting for replacing the 28-year-old.
He find "funny" the team biggest strategic error of last year, what a great team player he is. Seriously he need a good PR team, every time he opens his mouth is a disaster

It’s true that Ferrari had a strong chance of winning the championship the previous year, given that their stash of vehicles and drivers was loaded to capacity. The squad, however, lost their chance and witnessed the restructuring of the organization over the winter.
