A team with Jordan F1 DNA saw itself rebranded for the sixth time when the name Aston Martin marked its second innings in the F1 circus in 2021. While the team’s previous outfit Racing Point was called the Pink Mercedes because of the resemblance and sudden surge of speed, the team is now sometimes called the Green Red Bull. And the heads that turned looking at the sudden spike in the speed are now perhaps envious.
Aston Martin was bought by Lawrence Stroll when Force India went bankrupt. However, after the team’s take over, the real journey began. Lawrence Stroll worked hard to rebrand it as Aston Martin and establish a $300 million factory. The investment is surely reaping rewards now as the team has made a massive 2.4-second leap in the wind tunnel and now stands second to Red Bull only. But while that may seem like a glorious feat, the team is apparently a ‘victim’ of success now.
As quoted by GP Blog, Andy Stevenson, sporting director of Aston Martin, told the team’s official website that as the team’s performance improves. He said, “Everyone is looking at you. Any mistake, even the tiniest error or a hint of a mistake, and everybody is pointing it out. When you’re towards the back of the field, people aren’t watching you as much, but when you’re at the front, you’re constantly under the microscope.”

While the trouble of extensive scrutiny is already piling up for the Silverstone-based outfit, the team doesn’t want to get their hopes too high.

The team has time and again said that the half-asleep giants like Mercedes and Ferrari may play catch up during the Spring break before Baku. And while the F1 community is unanimously impressed by Aston Martin and their grand arrival for the 2023 season campaign, the team wants to stay grounded.
Andy Stevenson said, “We have to remain realistic. It’s going to take a lot of hard work to stay where we are. There are some incredibly well-established teams that might not have started the season strongly but will be doing everything they can to close the gap and try to beat us.”
