Pierre Gasly embraced yet another F1 season of strong showing with mid-fielders AlphaTauri, securing P9 after claiming a whopping 110 championship points. Overall, it was a consistent season, and also included a well-deserved podium in Baku.

Well, Gasly enjoyed New Year’s eve with his girlfriend watching an NBA game from the courtside at the Barclays Center in New York City.

Gasly’s girlfriend, Katerina Berezhna, took to Instagram to post a few pictures, including that of Gasly watching the breathtaking game in awe. By the looks of it, the French driver was cheering for one of the favorites for the 2022 NBA title, the Brooklyn Nets. Unfortunately, the end result did not go the way he hoped for, as the Nets ended up on the losing side against the Philadelphia 76ers; the 76ers defeated the Nets 110-102.

Of course, it was ultimately painful for the Nets to lose the game, especially considering the fact that they had embraced back-to-back wins against the Clippers and the Lakers before heading to Brooklyn for the final match-up of the year.

Nevertheless, there was a silver lining to this defeat, as the main man, Kevin Durant, made his return to the court. Unsurprisingly, he picked up right where he left off; ending up with 33 points.

Gasly, as always, is shimmering with confidence. Hence, all he will potentially need is a decent enough car from AlphaTauri to take the charge in 2022. Although it might be impossible for Gasly to challenge for podiums frequently, he certainly is one of the favorites to become the ‘best of the rest’ driver on the grid.
