At a time where we compare the greatness of Michael Schumacher to Lewis Hamilton, there are fans who have a similar debate- only out on the court. Can they compare Michael Jordan to LeBron James? Legends of their eras and their sports; the parley cannot be settled on the racetrack, nor on the basketball court. But here’s looking at how differently F1’s Red Baron compares to the NBA’s Chosen One.
Two very different leagues, two very different personalities, extremely different sports. Yet titans of their field nonetheless. Hence, looking at Schumacher and James’s salaries and net worth is very interesting.

As of 2021, Michael Schumacher’s net worth is around $600million (£434million). The driver hasn’t appeared publicly in a long time, yet the love and popularity within F1 remain the same.
Over the course of his illustrious racing career, the German earned $1billion (£723million). There was a point in Schumacher’s career where the driver earned $80-$100million (£57.9-£72.3million) per year. It is also well-known that Schumacher’s popularity gave him $10million (£7.2million) a year from Shell, just for wearing a cap with the marque’s logo on it.

The King has an estimated net worth of $850 million (£750 million). LeBron has his hands full with multiple brands and has investments in a lot of big names. The entrepreneur formed the SpringHill company with Maverick Carter; there’s Blaze Pizza in California and also Fenway Sports Group that owns various sports teams.

LeBron James and Michael Schumacher career earnings
The F1 trailblazer is known to be the highest-paid F1 driver in history. Then again, few have achieved what Schumacher has. F1’s Regenmeister has estimated career earnings of around $1.13 billion(£1 billion). This can be credited to his healthy salary from Ferrari, a team with which he’s bagged five championships as well.

Although initially, Schumacher led James comfortably in career earnings, as the MVPs rolled in, James only grew bigger.
The 2003 number one draft pick now has career earnings of around $1.17 billion (£1.3 billion). The secure Lakers‘ contract makes James the first NBA player in history to earn more than $400m in salary.
