Lewis Hamilton is one of the most globally followed athletes in the world. He has garnered immense respect from everyone after his achievements in Formula One. But would he ever try racing in NASCAR?

In 2015, Lewis became of part of the last night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, where the American host asked him for his thoughts on the American motorsport series. The then 3-time world champion expressed his respect for every category and showered praises on NASCAR.

Well, I love cars in general. I went to watch Jeff Gordon just recently in Miami, his last race. When I was there, I’ve never really go to races to watch, I’m always driving. So I was sitting there, and I was like where is my car and I just wanted to get out.”

When further asked if NASCAR is something he would consider, Hamilton answered, “I would love to do it and I think a street track, you know, like a street circuit.”

“I wish racing wasn’t so restricted, I wish I could do Formula 1 and hop over and do a couple of street races.”

“Because on the oval one, you got to really learn about the car and it takes a lot longer, I would imagine,” said Lewis.

NASCAR driver Tyler Reddick too mentioned recently that he would be happy if the 7-time world champion decided to join the category.

Reddick mentioned he had a lot of respect for the Mercedes F1 driver and he would love to have him in NASCAR. He also gave a prediction of how the British driver would fare if he decided to race in NASCAR.

“He’s one of the best drivers to have ever lived. And if he came over here, well, guess what? He’s gonna be pretty damn good. I’d try to play it cool, but I’d be low-key sweating through like four layers of clothes,” said Reddick.
