The Sao Paulo Grand Prix has concluded with Lewis Hamilton pulling off a stunning drive. From 10th place on the grid, he steadily scythed his way up the order. Eventually, he overcame some questionable tactics from Max Verstappen and won the race. Later on, tweets poured in, in support for the defending champion. Among them were a few NASCAR drivers, led by fellow 7-time champion Jimmie Johnson.

The former Hendrick Motorsports driver was fairly mind-blown by Hamilton’s performance. In all honesty, the Briton had a great weekend, despite the odds. To be precise, he was disqualified from the Friday qualifying and stormed up to 5th place from dead last in the sprint race. Later on in the real race, he overcame a further 5-place grid penalty and went on to win the race. Also joining Johnson was 2020 champion Chase Elliott.

Admittedly, not many other NASCAR stars have tweeted about the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. However, Tyler Reddick did confirm that he was following the race.

Jimmie Johnson and the others definitely enjoyed the race

One thing is for sure, it was a really nail-biting race. In addition to that, it also proved that the title race is heating up to a boiling point. Jimmie Johnson and Chase Elliott certainly got their money’s worth and praised Lewis Hamilton. In all honesty, Hamilton deserved that win, especially after all that he had gone through during the weekend.

Now, Hamilton and Max Verstappen will be looking forward to the coming weekend’s race to resume their battle. Next weekend, the paddock heads to Qatar for the first time. Since Formula One has never raced here, it marks a clean slate and nobody knows who will be quicker. Additionally, the following race in Saudi Arabia is also a big unknown. Finally there is the season finale at Abu Dhabi to close the show and crown a champion.
