Social media has been all ablaze with pictures of Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari gear. The 7-time F1 world champion broke the Internet last year when he announced that he would move to Ferrari. Who wouldn’t be excited to see one of the biggest names in F1 link up with the most iconic F1 teams? It would be literal PR heaven, and the merchandise sales would go through the roof.

Of course, as soon as Hamilton donned that Ferrari uniform, the team wasted no time in marketing him. Recently, the team revealed a photograph of Hamilton reclining on a tire and his back against another. He was donning his Ferrari overalls with his yellow and red helmet was dangling in his hand. Barely an hour later, Hendrick Motorsports had to chime in with their own version of the pose. As the saying goes, ‘imitation is the best form of flattery.’

Kyle Larson imitates greatness, but is he at that level yet?

HMS’s subject was none other than their star driver, Kyle Larson. The #5 driver was striking the same pose as Hamilton, and HMS dubbed both of them as GOATs, (Greatest Of All Time). It was honestly supposed to be a sort of ‘game recognizes game’ moment for Larson and Hamilton. However the question remains, is Larson worthy of the ‘GOAT’ title?

This is honestly such a difficult question to answer because the parameters are unknown. It is hard to compare drivers from different eras, like Kyle Larson against a Prime Richard Petty or Dale Earnhardt. Or even comparing Prime Lewis Hamilton to Prime Michael Schumacher or Ayrton Senna. However, Larson himself has compared himself to Hamilton’s rival, Max Verstappen, in the past. Larson said, “I know in my mind I am better than him as an all-around driver.” This statement ignited a huge debate, which is still ongoing until the two race each other on common ground.

However, if drivers in the same discipline cannot be compared to each other, how can one compare drivers across different disciplines? Hamilton’s statistics already speak for themselves, 7 championships, most wins over his career and the list goes on and on. Now, he is looking for a new challenge with Ferrari. Meanwhile, Kyle Larson is best known for competing in different racing formats and excelling.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Lewis Hamilton break Ferrari's title drought, or is he just another failed superstar signing?

Have an interesting take?

The versatile driver is a specialist on dirt tracks and to be honest, he can drive anything with four wheels on it. His legacy is way beyond NASCAR, a three-time Chili Bowl winner with multiple Golden Drillers from the Tulsa Shootout as well. Kyle Larson is the pinnacle of versatility. He also owns a sprint car series, High Limit Racing, where he won a $100,000 race at Perth Motorplex last year.

He may only have one Cup Series title so far, but that does not really tell the full story, does it? Meanwhile, Hamilton looks to complete his story, by securing his elusive eighth championship with Ferrari.

Can Lewis Hamilton win races and/or the title with Ferrari?

To be frank, driving for Ferrari is a dream come true for many F1 racers. This was especially true after the Michael Schumacher era, but no one else has come close to that success in Ferrari colors. To this day, Kimi Raikkonen is still the last Ferrari F1 champion, which was back in 2007. The likes of Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel both joined Ferrari but failed to take them back to glory.

Lewis Hamilton is the latest rockstar signing by the Maranello squad. However, he may be under pressure to do what Alonso and Vettel couldn’t. Then again, teammate Charles Leclerc is not going to make things easy for him. Another big concern is Ferrari itself, as the Italian giants are sometimes prone to comical errors. On the outside, these errors can be wildly hilarious, but one can guarantee that no one at Ferrari will be laughing.

One can only hope that Scuderia Ferrari does not try any crazy stunts on Hamilton or Leclerc. After all, this is a team that once sent Kimi Raikkonen out on full wet tires on a dry track in 2009. Another reason Hamilton may find himself challenged is because of his arch-nemesis, Max Verstappen, in his Red Bull. Besides Mad Max, McLaren also was in fine form in 2024 and will be hoping to keep the momentum. Even Hamilton’s former team, Mercedes, is not one to be underestimated.

The 2025 grid is stacked with talent, the likes of Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, and George Russell will surely give Hamilton and co. a run for their money. What do you think? Can Hamilton give Ferrari their first title since his debut season and earn his eighth to bow out of the sport in poetic fashion?
