Daniel Ricciardo wouldn’t have expected to find himself in the situation he is currently in. However, unpredictability is an essence of F1 and things can change quickly in this sport. 3 months ago, Daniel had one of the highest-paid contracts on the grid until 2023. Fast forward to today and he neither has a contract, nor a team for next year.

The McLaren driver might not have a seat for next year, but he seems he has no plans to race in NASCAR either. Daniel Ricciardo said he already has plans for retirement and looks less likely to race in America.

The Australian said“I’m a fan. Like I’ve been a fan of NASCAR and stuff, but I would probably, I think after a final, probably just chill, retired from racing. I wouldn’t do anything full-on. Maybe like some fun things, but nothing too far.”

The McLaren driver has been a big fan of NASCAR and IndyCar but ruled out the possibility of racing there full time. However, he did leave things open for interpretation, with him being open to “fun things.”

And who knows? Maybe we can see him race as a driver for Trackhouse Racing’s Project91.

Daniel suffered the Monza curse as the previous year’s winner in Monza couldn’t finish the race this time out. His McLaren gave up just before the end of the race, which caused the race to finish behind the safety car.
