2021 F1 drivers’ champion Max Verstappen unveiled his helmet for the next season with number 1 imprinted on the back. The new gear in 1:2 & 1:4 2022 scale models will also be available on the website soon. Max Verstappen decided to run the number 1 figure on his car as F1 entitles it to the world champions. It is the first time since 2014 that the number 1 car will be a part of the grid. It was last used by Sebastian Vettel in Red Bull.
Lewis Hamilton chose to carry on with number 44 even after back-to-back championship wins. However, this year was different. Max Verstappen took the crown after an ardent battle with the defending champion that lasted till the last lap of the season finale. The Dutchman led over 600 laps, more than the rest of the grid combined. Moreover, he set the record for most podiums in a season, 18. He even managed 11 pole positions which makes him a very impressive world champion.
Verstappen also asked for a minor star on the back, with a small 21′ written inside it, for his championship win. In a recent video shared by the Dutchman himself on his official Twitter handle, fans can see him unveiling the 2022 helmet for the first time. “Let’s see what it looks like,” said Max as he pulled the helmet out of the box.

In the video that shows Max reviewing his 2022 gear, he looked highly impressed. The major difference is the introduction of a lot of gold on the sides and the front. Notably, the Red Bull tag line, “Gives You Wings” is also carved elegantly in gold. “As you can see, it features a bit more gold. The lion on top is now fully in gold and of course, I now have the number one, on the rear spoiler,” said Max.
“I decided to not change the design a lot, but to change the colors a bit: the parts that were red previously, are now basically fully gold. I also asked for a little star on the back, for my championship win. With all the small upgrades and the gold, I think my 2022 helmet looks cool. I hope you enjoy it as well!” he added.
