Arsenal and Chelsea share a long rivalry. And the news broke just after the day Arsenal defeated Chelsea in the London Derby. Some might say Hamilton is rubbing salt into the wounds of Chelsea fans, but the Brit has confirmed his intentions are pure.

Lewis Hamilton confirms Chelsea bid

Chelsea Football Club was previously owned by Russian Oligarch Roman Abramovich. As a result of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, he had to step down from his role. Ever since that, the club has been on sale and Sky Sports reported Hamilton and tennis star Serena Williams, along with Sir Martin Broughton, are in contention to buy the club.

Hamilton is passionate about many things, including soccer. As an Arsenal fan, it is surprising to see him bid for a rival club. However, the seven-time World Champion revealed he is a sports fan in general.

“The Chelsea rumors are true. I am a fan of football as a child, I have been playing since I was 4 years old. I remember that at 5/6 years, I was supporting Arsenal, while my uncle supported Chelsea. In general, however, I am a sports fan,” conveyed Hamilton ahead of the Imola Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen reacts to Lewis Hamilton’s bid

Earlier, Max Verstappen, like the rest of the fans, was astounded to see Hamilton bidding for Chelsea. The Dutchman is a vivid follower of the sport himself and supports PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch League. He poked fun at Hamilton and suggested he would never buy a rival club.

“I am a PSV fan and I would never buy Ajax. And if I were going to buy a football club, I would want to be the full owner and to take the decisions myself, not own just a tiny percentage,” revealed Verstappen.
