Driver-turned-announcer Martin Brundle is certainly one of the most iconic personalities in F1 and one of the most recognizable commentators in the sport. Moreover, the Briton has also won the iconic 24 Hours of Dayton and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1988 and 1990, respectively.

However, Brundle states that people don’t remember him as a race driver anymore. The Brit is a voice for Sky Sports, which makes him the voice people listen to during the race in the USA and the UK.
Martin Brundle sat down with GQ for an interview where he answered many questions. When asked about how the race driver Brundle would have reacted to a microphone to his face, right before the lights went out, Brundle said,?“Interesting point, because you?re absolutely right.”
He added,?“I couldn?t go to David Beckham and say, ?Hey, just before you kick the ball, talk to me about this or that.? Roger Federer at Wimbledon, couldn?t do it. So I find the drivers very compliant. I find them very eloquent.”

Martin also talks about how he feels grateful when people talk to him so freely. He acknowledges the fact that he has been in F1 for a while, which makes it a little easier to talk to people. He also said he used to be a bit nervous before driving into the grid. However, he also feels serene in the paddock.
Martin Brundle believes the drivers trust him while talking to him
Brundle has been the face of F1 commentary for a while now. He is often spotted in the paddock, holding the mic in front of our favorite drivers, trying to extract information for the fans. Brundle believes the drivers are quite happy to talk to him and trust him with the responsibility.

Martin said, “A few of them will just shake their head and then even apologize later on. Or some come up to me in the paddock and go, ?You haven’t seen me on the grid for ages. Just come and talk to me on the grid.”
He continued, “And then others will never talk. Lewis used to talk to me a lot and then stopped. So we take it as it comes.”
