Could John Cena's Hollywood flair and Bryson DeChambeau's power make Crusher G.C. the team to beat in LIV Golf?

How would it be if there was a movie on Crushers GC? Not a docu-series like Full Swing. But something say, in the vein of Moneyball or even the HBO series, Winning Time? Anirban Lahiri instantly catches on to the idea. Lahiri sat down with Aravind Menon of EssentiallySports for an exclusive chat. Asked about the prospect of Crushers entering Hollywood, Lahiri immediately laughs.

This is, this is actually a really good one.” Menon asked which actors should portray the four-member squad. The Crushers man has no doubt who would play him. He is Indian and R. Madhavan is a good friend. And he loves Golf too: “So I would love for Maddie to play me, because, just because, you know, I love him, and I love how he, you know, performs as a… as an actor, he’s amazing. So yeah, for myself, it’d probably be him.

Fair enough. What about his teammates? Firstly, the team captain Bryson DeChambeau should be played by John Cena. Our best guess was Chris Pratt because DeChambeau once revealed Pratt helped him during the tough times. DeChambeau almost wanted to quit golf during the tumultuous few years of farcas with fans camerapersons and even his club makers. Pratt gave a pep-talk that stopped him from quitting.

But Anirban Lahiri thinks Cena would be better for the two-time U.S. Open champion. For the antics and signature celebratory gestures? Lahiri didn’t clarify. “I think for Bryson, should probably take John Cena. You know, you take because I laugh about it because, for the obvious reason. What about Paul Casey? The Crushers man told in the Exclusive Interview with EssentiallySports, that Casey is a suave English gentleman, and he is very ‘mysterious’ too. “I probably ask Daniel Craig to play him, because we call, probably call Paul, Mr. Bond every now and then.” That leaves only Charles Howell III.

The three-time PGA Tour winner is dubbed as ‘gentlemanly’ and ‘very Southern’ by Anirban Lahiri. Although Howell III now resides in Florida, he was born in Augusta and then attended Oklahoma State University. So, the Southern influence is hardly surprising. But coming back to Hollywood, who would play the former PGA Tour pro? Lahiri continued in the ES Exclusive, “The name is escaping me, but I think that would make for a pretty interesting cast… Matthew McConaughey, there it is. Oh, yeah. Matthew McConaughey… for Charles.” Lahiri’s comments evinced the strong team dynamics inside the Crushers’ GC locker room. Some evidence of that has reached the world via social media and press conferences.

Have an interesting take?

Lahiri was on the verge of sealing his first LIV Golf victory at Andalucia. However, in the sudden death playoff, Sergio Garcia edged past Lahiri in the second hole. Lahiri, though, could’ve sealed in the 54th hole itself, save for his brutal lipout.  DeChambeau later shared what he told his teammate to comfort him.

You have gotten better since being on LIV. And, the team that you have around you are here for you in full support. Don’t let this define you,” he added. Even before that, the captain hailed his team for the strong bond they have. The Crushers GC will tee off on September 13 at LIV Chicago, the last tournament before the season-ending Team Championship.
