With a budget cap and new regulations set to come in 2022. It might be lucrative for prominent figures to play a new part on the F1 grid. One such case is that of Michael Andretti who is rumored to have talks with Alfa Romeo. However, F1 boss, Bernie Ecclestone doesn’t think the deal will go through.

But, the British businessman doesn’t blame technical reasons if the rumored deal doesn’t go through but feels that moving team personal would be the bigger challenge.

The budget cap and new rules for Formula One have opened the possibility for new owners on the grid. The Swiss-based team finds themselves in a similar situation, as they have been rumored to have held talks with F1 royalty for the purchase of the team. However, Ecclestone doesn’t see the deal becoming a reality.

Speaking to Blick as quoted by FormulaPassion.it, he said, “I doubt that Sauber can be taken over by Andretti.Switzerland not really the ideal place to work in the F1 field. People with a British or US background do not want to move to Switzerland and if they do they leave rather quickly.” (Translated from Italian via Google)

How is the team doing this season?

The Swiss-based team have been struggling to say the least this season. As it stands, they only have seven points in the team’s championship which sees them occupy ninth place in the constructor’s standings.

However, Alfa Romeo haven’t lost hope, as they aim to grab maximum points for the remaining six races this season. With the talent behind the wheel such as Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi, the team hopes to gain a few places in the standings.
