Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is largely seen by the tifosi as the second coming of the team. The Monegasque driver certainly has talent and has had the measure of Sebastian Vettel in 2019. It is note-worthy that Leclerc came from a racing pedigree. A few members of Charles Leclerc’s family were involved in motorsports, and some still are.
Leclerc’s father Herve raced in Formula 3 during the 1980s and 1990s. It was also note-worthy that he was well respected in the karting scene by many. Unfortunately, Herve passed away after losing a battle to a long illness at the age of 54. His passing came a mere four days before Charles seized victory in the feature race at the 2017 Formula 2 Baku weekend.
Herve was a key figure in Charles’ early career, first taking him to the kart track of his good friend Philippe Bianchi. Philippe is the father of the late Jules Bianchi and the Bianchi family continue to share a good relationship with Leclerc’s family.

Jules later became part of Charles Leclerc’s family when he became the youngster’s godfather, which Charles revealed in 2018. Soon, young Charles followed in Bianchi’s footsteps, karting at a track managed by Bianchi’s father. Like Bianchi, Leclerc joined the ARM management company headed by Nicolas Todt, son of FIA President, Jean Todt.

Leclerc is the middle child in the family, with an older brother, Lorenzo and a younger brother, Arthur. Arthur Leclerc finished third in the 2019 ADAC Formula 4 championship, behind Théo Pourchaire and Denis Hauger. Leclerc Jr picked up seven podiums and a win in the final race of the season.
Speaking about Arthur’s win, Charles said, “Amazing. It felt like a victory for me. Anything that happens to my brother, it’s a bit like me. He had a free practice on Friday that was a little difficult, and then to see him win on Sunday was great.”
