Rory McIlroy is one of the best players currently on the PGA Tour. He is currently competing at the DP World Tour Championship, which is the final event on the European Tour. However, after trailing by a stroke in the third round, Rory is back in the lead with just one final round remaining.
He is in a prominent position to register his third victory of 2021 as previously he won the Well Fargo Championship and recently the CJ Cup at Vegas. More importantly, if Rory does triumph, after all, he will achieve a historic feat.

After carding five under 67 in the third round, Rory leads the field by a stroke. He scored five birdies and two bogeys to lead the event by a stroke with a score of -14. With that, Rory has got himself in a position to achieve something that’s never been achieved on the European Tour.

Rory is currently heading towards what could be a record third win at the DP World Tour Championship. He won this event for the first time in 2012 and then in 2015. However, he has got a tremendous chance this year to win this season’s finale for the third time. Furthermore, this will be his first victory on the European Tour since 2019.

“I’m right where I want to be,” he said after his round. “I want to be contending on Sundays in golf tournaments and feel like I’m back to playing the way I should and the way that will get me back contending.”
Sadly, even if McIlroy manages to win the DP World Tour Championship, he isn’t in contention to lift the Race to Dubai title. However, Collin Morikawa is in contention for both the Race to Dubai and the DP World Tour Championship. He is just three strokes behind Rory and will give him a tough fight on the last day.
