Jordan Spieth had a staggering second round at The 2021 Open Championship. He registered a score of 67 and remained 3-under for the day and 8-under for the tournament. Currently, Spieth is three behind the lead as Louis Oosthuizen is currently leading the pack with a score of -11.

Jordan had an early start on Thursday, so the wind factor did not affect his play. But since he had a late tee-off in the afternoon for the second round, the wind had a slightly advanced role to play. However, it did not affect Spieth’s game as he continued with the momentum he had in round one and scored low. He had an impeccable round in all the three departments; the driver, iron and putting.

Jordan Spieth puts on a glaring show in round 2

Coming into the second round, Jordan Spieth made an emphatic start. He opened his account with back-to-back birdies on the first and second holes. But unfortunately, he dropped a shot on the very next hole but gained back on the fourth hole with a birdie. Spieth was driving the ball brilliantly and displayed a driving accuracy of about 64.29%. He is known for his putting but was slightly disappointing with his performance on the green.

The 2017 Open Championship winner scored birdies on 1, 2, 4 in the front nine with a bogey on 2. On the back nine, Spieth scored birdies on 10th and 12th but sadly made a bogey on a par-4, 15th. Jordan slightly went off-color for the last few holes and missed some birdies. But he is currently ranked third and is one of the top contenders going into the weekend.

Surprisingly Jordan’s weakest game has been on the greens, as he missed a few putts from a makeable distance. But his driving, iron, and wedge game were impeccable, as he was hitting darts. He managed to get 83.33% of greens in regulations in round two. Moreover, he made 1.67 average putts on each green.

Now going into the weekend, Jordan Spieth is one of the top contenders to lift the trophy. But for that, he needs to grind it out for the next two days on a course that has become slightly easier due to the absence of wind. So if a player manages to find a fairway, the course will be a straightforward one. However, the same course looks daunting when the ball misses the fairway and goes into the hay.
