Bouchard came into the French Open main draw at #168 in WTA rankings and couldn’t even make it to the qualifying rounds of the French Open 2020. With few tournaments scheduled after the French Open, Bouchard won’t have chances to improve her ranking and edge closer to the top 100. Although she could play in some ITF events to boost her rankings. Breaking into the top 100 will ensure a place in the main draw of next year’s Australian Open.

“Honestly, I really don’t know what the plan is right now. I do know I’m going to take a little bit of time off, a couple days off. So that’s all that I have on the horizon for now.”

“As they say: It is what it is. I can’t control the opportunities or the tournaments or COVID. So I’m just ready for whatever opportunity is presented to me. We will see what comes going forward. But I’ll just be ready and we will see what happens”.

Bouchard had started the 2020 season ranked at 268 and reached the quarterfinal stage in the ASB Classic in Auckland. Her run propelled her to #211 in the world. Subsequently, she lost in the qualifying rounds of Australian Open 2020, which did her no good. Then a series of poor results and the tennis break due to the global coronavirus pandemic put her at #330 in the rankings.
