Since the announcement of the extended stream of Xbox Games Showcase 2023, there have been mild speculations about whether Microsoft is looking forward to giving a good upgrade to Xbox X Series. However, the CEO of the Xbox, Phil Spencer has confirmed that Microsoft is not investing in a potential mid-cycle development of Xbox.
Despite Microsoft giving good mid-cycle upgrades to its consoles after four or five years of successful runs in the market, looks like such developments might not be pursued this time around.

While asked for a reason not to pursue the effort for the upgrade for the Xbox X, CEO Phil Spencer stated that the company does not look at this proposal as important right now. Considering their recent achievements with Xbox X/S, He said that the team is satisfied with their recent hardware developments- “Right now, we’re pretty set on the hardware we have.”
Spencer points out that the supply chain crisis after the Covid pandemic has seriously impacted adoption rates and slowed down the timeline for any proposed mid-cycle development in hardware. In their recent Xbox Games Showcase 2023, Microsoft announced an improvised Xbox S with 1 TB of storage.
He disclosed that he wants the gamers to help him determine the product development. He follows the gaming trend to determine the need for development in any of the products. Adding to this statement, Spencer also said that skeptical analysis of the gaming trends helps him to understand that they do not need to make a product that is linked to blockchain or NFTs. He focuses on the experience of the gamers while developing the games.
Instead of mid-cycle development, Microsoft has increased the global supply chain of the Xbox X series for users. The availability of Xbox X across the world has increased its visibility among gamers.
