Twitch has been under scrutiny from the streaming community for quite a while now. From uncooperative streaming guidelines to unfair and arbitrary bans, streamers have often complained about the purple platform on social media.
According to the recent news, Twitch is coming up with some new changes in the platform which might be implemented this summer. However, the streamers do not seem to be quite in line with the new changes that are incoming. Let us look at what these changes are and how the streamers are reacting.

Twitch is planning to introduce new changes to the platform
Twitch’s new changes highlight paying their top talents and would become a major boost towards their profit. However, these new changes might also make it difficult for some other streamers, alienating them in the course of time.
As reported by Bloomberg, the proposed changes will provide incentives for streamers to show more advertisements. According to certain anonymous entities, since the negotiations are private, the idea would also cut the share of membership payments paid to the site’s top achievers.
According to the sources, certain modifications to Twitch’s revenue structure might be introduced as soon as this summer. Twitch staff is contemplating reducing the income split of channel subscriptions offered to the top tier of broadcasters in its so-called partnerships program from 70% to 50%. Two of the participants said that another approach would be to create many levels and specify criteria on how to qualify for each one. In exchange, Twitch may offer to remove exclusivity limitations from partners, allowing them to stream on Google’s YouTube or Facebook.

While we are at it, Twitch has also been experimenting with different ad formats. It announced this year that producers who stream at least 40 hours per month might earn $100 for broadcasting two minutes of commercials every hour. The compensation rises as the number of ad minutes increases. A new plan under consideration would establish a revenue-sharing system, providing a more profitable model for streamers.
Reaction from streamers
Many streamers have expressed their resentment towards these new upcoming changes and one of the notable names in this was Jacksepticeye. Let’s have a look at what they all got to say.
What a joke. Makes it worse for everyone except twitch themselves.

No exclusivity is WAY overdue. Good to see that. A majority of ad revenue should always go to creators, though. I’d say expand to other video formats to help growth instead of inundating viewers with more ads on livestreams! 🤝

Not seeing where they mention reducing the rev split, anyone see it?

I wonder if this split is something that would change for all current partners or just new incoming ones?
Seems very counter intuitive for having people choose your platform. Hope this gets a lot of backlash. Would be deserved.
