Lionel Messi Supports His Childhood Friend’s Esports Team

Lionel Messi, the seven-time Ballon d’Or holder, is now a more popular face in the USA as he is now playing for Inter Miami in the MLS, leaving Paris Saint-Germain behind in the last season. After his dream debut with Inter Miami, Messi was recently seen promoting KRU Esports by holding the jersey of the esports team.

The Argentine striker is the founder of this South American eSports team, which is mainly into Valorant. Needless to say, it was a gesture from Messi before his friend’s team entered the final of the Valorant LCQ tournament.

The fun fact is that KRU Esports is actually owned by Messi’s childhood friend, Sergio Aguero, with whom Messi has shared the Argentine dressing room for more than 15 years. And the great news is that KRU eSports has emerged as the champion of VCT LCQ Americas 2023.

Cristiano Ronaldo Promoting Gamers8 Esports Festival

Cristiano Ronaldo, the five times Ballon d’or winner, is now donning the jersey of the Saudi club Al-Nassr FC. And the Saudi Esports Federation took the right opportunity to promote one of their gaming events with the most popular athlete on the planet.

Ronaldo has recently posted a tweet inviting all gamers to the Gamers8 Esports Festival, which will be held for 8 weeks this summer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This event will begin on July 6th and will end on August 31st.

The fun fact is that Ronaldo’s present clubs, Al-Nassr and Gamers8, are both owned by the same organization. This Gamers8 event is funded partly by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, or PIF, which also holds a stake of 75% in Al-Nassr. PIF, which is the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Saudi Arabia, also owns 80% of EPL team Newcastle United. PIF has an estimated worth of a staggering $700 billion.
