KSI’s ‘Football VS Soccer’ Debate Gets Heated as the Manchester United Legend David Beckham Join In

As the teams of the USA and England were readying to face each other on the world stage of FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022, it riled the fans and the natives of both countries up. Many big names and well-known personalities such as KSI and David Beckham kindled this, with the century-old question, what is it called, ‘Football or Soccer’? 

Before the match, the internet was divided into two sides. One believed the sport is called football, and the other thought its soccer. The word “Soccer” is mostly used in the American side of the world, while the rest of the world calls it football. 

Many believe the term “Soccer” was coined to prevent confusion with another classic American sport with the same name. In a detailed report on this subject, NPR wrote, “the word soccer comes from an abbreviation of association football to distinguish it from rugby football, the game where you tackle and throw the ball with your hands.”

But there haven’t been any sure answers to the question to this day. As both sides believe that they use the correct term for the sport. This argument may never get resolved, but it sure causes some hilarious bickering between the fans of the sport.

By the stroke of luck, both teams of USA and England were placed in Group B in the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2022. Fans were waiting for the promised day when they would collide in the field and it finally came on November 26, 2022.

Before the match, fans collided on the internet, including celebrities. The famous internet star, musician, and Boxer KSI posted a tweet on his official account that cooked up a storm. He said, “There’s no way we lose to a country that call football, “soccer”.” This tweet went viral like fire. It got around 250k+ reactions and 10k+ retweets.

It is believed that this tweet caught the attention of the soccer legend David Beckham. The athlete posted an Instagram post just a few moments before the match was about to start. In the post David Beckham wrote, “it’s called FOOTBALL @usmnt 😂 Great atmosphere at Al Bayt Stadium between US fans 🇺🇸 and England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 fans tonight ⚽️ @england”

The much-anticipated match between England and the USA didn’t have the outcome everyone had hoped for. The game ended in a tie, as none of the factions were able to score a goal. But the critics and avid fans praised the American team as they managed to hold their defenses and give a worthy fight to the veterans of soccer, England.
