The Nintendo Switch 2 is one of the most anticipated pieces of hardware in recent times. Nintendo fans are all waiting for any news about it. But the Japanese gaming giant refuses to even acknowledge the console. However, if rumors are anything to go by, this console is going to be something of a powerhouse. Even close to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S in graphical capabilities.

If the Nintendo Switch 2 turns out to be as powerful as it is rumored, and if Nintendo decides to make it backward compatible with its older sibling, these five games will benefit the most from this new console’s raw power.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Super Mario Bros. is one of the longest-running video game franchises. There was a time in between those games when someone decided Mario’s little brother needed his own game. Yes, Luigi was to get his own game, and that idea ended up bringing Luigi’s mansion to the GameCube. A third-person game where Luigi whimpers around a haunted mansion, clearing it of its ghosts. He does all that to save his brother Mario, who has been taken by the ghosts. It has an awesome premise with a very humorous execution.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the third game in this series, with the second being released on Nintendo 3DS and soon coming to Switch. The third installment, though, is something else, much larger, with even more comedic sequences. And finally, the best-looking visuals of them all. These visuals would look even better on the Nintendo Switch 2. A game with graphics that look as detailed as one of those Pixar movies definitely needs a 4K with HDR treatment.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Is it even a surprise that this game is everywhere? It’s a massive success. The game is even nominated for this year’s GOTY at The Game Awards. There are a number of reasons for its success and its GOTY nomination. Further, there are even more reasons why this should release for the Nintendo Switch 2.

The first is that it is such a massive game that it’s unbelievable that Tears of the Kingdom even runs on the Nintendo Switch. With all its load times and pop-ins, it would be interesting to see how it runs on much-improved hardware. It would also be interesting to see if the rumors of this game getting a native Switch 2 port are true. That might even mean fans could see some kind of Ray Tracing support for it.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

This Nintendo-published series of open-world role-playing games is something else. As many have said before, it is not everyone’s cup of tea. They are huge and look beautiful, but they are riddled with complex gameplay mechanics. But they are also some of the best-looking titles to ever release on Nintendo’s consoles.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is so beautiful that it barely runs on the Nintendo Switch. Its resolution is subpar, and its performance is just serviceable. Hence, it would be great if Nintendo gave this game the Switch 2 treatment. It would work a lot better, and fans would get to play the game the way it’s meant to be played.

Bayonetta 3

This funky hack-and-slash game starring everyone’s favorite quirky witch is in its own league. Platinum Games finally completed their trilogy, all thanks to Nintendo giving them everything they needed to do so. The first was a grounded affair, as grounded as a platinum game can be. The second was a very beautiful and smart title that upped its prequel in every way. However, the third game is something mind-blowing; it’s just too big for its own good.

Game Director Hideki Kamiya finished what he started with the third game. He made it a game with semi-open world areas and enemies that even exceeded the size of those fans saw in God of War games. And all that is indeed exciting, but it led to some heavy drops in framerate. This happened very often, too. It is almost like this was a game meant for Nintendo Switch 2. However, Kamiya wanted to release it before leaving Platinum Games, hence he released it for the original Switch.

It would be great to see it in its full glory, running at solid 60 fps and full HD or even higher resolution.

Doom Eternal

When Bethesda and ID Software released Doom Eternal on the Nintendo Switch, people could not fathom the fact that it actually worked. Not solid, but the game often reaches 30 fps; it looks good enough, and there’s no doubt it is still one of the best-looking titles on Switch.

But there’s a small problem. While it looks just fine in handheld mode, it is unbearable in docked mode. It’s a game that needs to be 60 fps. Second, this game needs to be in its full glory; it has so much potential. And all these things would only be possible if it were actually ported to Switch 2.

While backward compatibility would bring its frame rates closer to 30 fps, it would be great to see Bethesda take the initiative, unlock the framerate, and rework the visuals a bit.
