With the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came the innate desire of players to experiment with the game. And the title gave them a lot of freedom to experiment with and create their own storyline. Even Aonuma, Zelda’s producer, was planning the game to be something no one had witnessed before.

But, even after thorough testing and examination, there is always something left out. This Nintendo masterpiece also left out a certain feature that is now being exploited by fans. In his YouTube video, Austin John shared the exact steps needed to recreate a very simple glitch that allows players to duplicate any item or transmute items via shield surfing.

The glitch is being popularized as the Transmutation glitch. However, there is a proper method to execute this strategy. If done wrongly, players may lose items from their inventory.

The steps to carry out the Transmutation glitch are as follows-

  1. The desired item you wish to duplicate must be the last item in your inventory. So drop all the number of the single items and collect them again. This way they will show up in last place.
  2. The next step to carry out is shield surfing. If you don’t know how to shield surf, hold down your shield button, and jump. While in the air, tap the A button to execute shield surf.
  3. An additional step while in the air would be to pause and open inventory. While still in the air, pick an item you only have one variant of, followed by the desired item you want to duplicate.
  4. Now, the only step you have to do is land. When Link lands, collect all the items scattered. And surprisingly, you’ll notice that the desired item has duplicated itself.

However, this infinite duplication scheme also has its disadvantages. It can only be triggered by using one unique item in your inventory. And also the desired item in your inventory should also be placed last.

You can only pick back up a limited amount of items. Currently, the max number of single items you can collect back is twenty-one.
